Lapauw only uses high grade carbon steel in his chests
Why? Allow us to give you just 2 figures.
The heat conduction factor of stainless steel is 14,6 W/mK.
The heat conduction factor of high grade carbon steel is 58,15 W/mk.

High grade carbon steel has a heat conduction factor that is 4 times higher than stainless steel. So, heat travels 4 times faster through a carbon steel surface than through a stainless steel surface.
 

The result is that, while a stainless steel chest tends to show temperature differences (so called cold spots) over the ironing surface, a carbon steel chest delivers an uniform and consistent temperature over the surface.

Needless to say that a carbon steel chest assures the best ironing performance and ironing quality.
