With the propeller shaft, Lapauw takes a different approach to synchronizing the speed between the 1st and second or even 3rd roll of its ironers. And we have good reasons in doing so.
A propeller shaft requires little maintenance.
A belt drive system, that is commonly used in the industry, tends to slip. Or it will lose the optimal belt tension tension in the course of time or even break. This means recalibrating the speed settings or replacing some of the belts.
The propeller shaft will never lose tension, break or slip. So maintenance is not required.
Moreover, a propeller shaft delivers a consistent speed difference between the rolls, which is to the benefit of the ironing quality and performance.
A propeller shaft is the high speed solution
The vibrations in a belt drive system increase with increasing speed.
A propeller shaft does not have this problem, as it remains stable.
Therefore the propeller shaft is better equipped to take on the speed challenges of tomorrow.
Lower installation and start-up time
A belt transmission system requires some fine tuning and adjustments to the speed or the rolls. Always.
With the propeller shaft this task is already taken care of in the factory.
